We use the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule-2nd Edition (ADOS-2), an industry-leading, empirically tested diagnostic assessment developed by Dr. Catherine Lord and her colleagues.

The ADOS-2 can be tailored to the individual needs of children from age 18 months through adulthood. To qualify for testing, the ADOS-2 requires a minimum developmental level of 12 months and no significant sensory or motor impairments (i.e. blindness, deafness, confined to wheelchair). Module selection for each individual depends on language aptitude within any given speech range or level of fluency and accepted norms for their particular age group.

Some individuals prefer the ADOS-2 assessment as they do not require a referral from their doctor, do not have to wait for an extended period (like 6+ months), and find it to be a more affordable option.

The ADOS-2 provides a consistent evaluation of communication skills, social interaction, and imaginative use of materials. These domains are vital for identifying behaviors associated with ASD.

We appreciate the comprehensive activity structure of the ADOS-2, which enables a thorough evaluation of our patients’ behaviors. It aids in identifying any potential signs of ASD. Early diagnosis and intervention are crucial for helping individuals with ASD reach their full potential, making ADOS-2 an essential tool in that process.

Yes, we gladly provide your full report of your ADOS-2 results to your physician, psychologist, and/or psychiatrist. While the ADOS-2 assessment isn’t the sole contributor to a clinical diagnosis, it is a significant part of the process and can be used to support clinicians in determining a diagnosis and formulating further recommendations. We regularly collaborate with Primary Care Providers to ensure timely diagnoses for our clients.

The SRS-2 is a tool for identifying social impairment associated with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and quantifying its severity. It consists of a series of questions that are rated by parents or teachers, which provide a clear picture of a child’s capacity for social interaction. At Love Neurodiversity Consulting, we use the SRS-2 to provide additional context and information to support our comprehensive assessments.

The ABAS-3 measures adaptive skills, which are practical, everyday skills needed to function and meet the demands of one’s environment, including the ability to effectively communicate, socialize, and maintain self-care. This information is crucial in creating a complete picture of an individual’s abilities and potential areas of need, and is often used in conjunction with tools like the ADOS-2.

Your assessment will be conducted by our qualified professionals who have undergone rigorous training in administering the ADOS-2, SRS-2, and ABAS-3. Our team works collaboratively to ensure the results are analyzed and interpreted accurately.

The ADOS-2 assessment can take between 40 to 90 minutes, depending on the module used. The assessment involves various structured and semi-structured tasks that involve social interaction between the examiner and the person being assessed. These tasks are designed to observe behaviors related to ASD.

Yes, the results from the ADOS-2 can be used for educational, work, or other structured purposes. However, it’s crucial to first ensure that the relevant entity will recognize the ADOS-2 assessment conducted by us. We always encourage individuals to discuss their results with their primary care physician, psychologist, and/or psychiatrist before making any decisions based on the results.

Using multiple tools allows us to gain a more comprehensive understanding of an individual’s behaviors and abilities. Each tool provides different insights, and combining them can offer a more holistic view of an individual’s strengths and potential areas of need. This comprehensive approach is invaluable in guiding subsequent support or intervention strategies.
